Francesco Arreaga is the youngest Democrat in the CA-30 congressional race championing a progressive agenda that dares to challenge the status quo. He is running for Congress to represent the community he grew up in and fight for an equitable future where no one is left behind.

Francesco was born in Los Angeles and raised in a working-class immigrant household, so he understands the hardships people are going though and is committed to advancing social, racial, & economic justice.

His mother grew up in a rural village in Guatemala and instilled in him the value of education & public service.

Francesco attended public schools in the district - Los Feliz Elementary, Thomas Starr King, & Marshall High School. He is a first-gen graduate of UCLA and UC Berkeley School of Law, where he obtained a B.A. in Political Science and Chinese with a minor in Global Studies, and a Juris Doctor degree with a specialization in International Law.

After law school, Francesco became a Legislative Advisor in Congress to write legislation, influence foreign policy, & most importantly be a voice for marginalized communities.

With lifelong ties to our district, lived experiences, a background in law and foreign affairs, & experience working in Congress, Francesco will be an effective voice for our communities and advance a legislative agenda that uplifts all of us.

Francesco has been a Voice for Undocumented Families & Children who were Forcibly Separated from their Parents at the Border.

  • Worked with Immigrant Rights Organizations, including Kids In Need of Defense, to advance initiatives in Congress that protect unaccompanied children

  • Helped DACA recipients renew their status at Berkeley Law

  • Volunteered with the ACLU to document abusive practices at immigrant detention facilities

  • Prepared letters for members of Congress urging the Biden Admin to protect asylum seekers & grant work authorization to individuals from Venezuela, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, & Nicaragua

A Foreign Policy Rooted in Our Values

Francesco Advised on Foreign Policy in Congress & Specialized in International Law at UC Berkeley. He will Advance a Foreign Policy Focused on Addressing Global Warming, Building an Inclusive Global Economy, & Protecting Human Rights.

  • Prepared a letter sent by more than 80 members of Congress to the House Appropriations Committee requesting increased funding for international climate programs, including the Green Climate Fund

  • Wrote legislation to assist allies in Latin America & the Caribbean transition to renewable energy [View here]

  • Wrote a Resolution in support of Ukraine & international organizations, such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, assisting people displaced by war & conflict [View here]

  • Co-authored an article with Rep. Adriano Espaillat on the Harvard Journal on Legislation detailing the importance of Congress remedying a history of U.S. military interventions in the Dominican Republic [View in English here] [View in Spanish here]

  • Growing up, Francesco saw his neighbors in the Little Armenia neighborhood mourn the tragedy of the Armenian Genocide. He supports efforts to prevent another genocide by protecting Armenians in Artsakh.

  • On Israel-Gaza, Francesco agrees with calls from the UN Children’s Agency (UNICEF) that all Israeli hostages must be released, there must be a cease fire, & urgent humanitarian aid sent to families in Gaza. UNICEF finds that 90% of children under the age of 2 and 95% of pregnant women face severe food poverty in Gaza. Children caught in this cycle of violence need world leaders to step up and work towards a two-state solution for sustainable peace.
